welcoming committee

“Welcoming Committee”  10″ square Oil on canvas sheet

I’ve also been working (fulltime), walking, cleaning, and trying not to let life overwhelm me

Seems that when I am struggling the most with life’s little challenges and disappointments, the art happens.

The last two paintings have happened in the last 4 days.

I’m so damn tired.

Physically & mentally.

Three paintings went on a little holiday to an exhibition.

Three paintings came back home unsold.

Still waiting for their forever home, I guess.

Nothing much else to say really.

Happy Australia Day

Manhattan Dreaming

Is what I have called my latest painting.

A slightly abstracted landscape, probably more of a quick study but I like it.

Acrylics on canvas sheet.

Art classes are on a break until February and so I am back to fiddling on my own during the holidays.

Since my last post, I am in the process of lifting the funk.  I refuse to call them resolutions, but I have tasked myself with walking more, and eating better.

I need to focus on my health.

I have even invested in a “Fitbit” and am managing to do my goal of 10,000 steps a day.  It is a motivator.

And as I walk around the house before work, I am de-cluttering, tidying and getting my physical space organised.

It seems that in the process of Christmas preparations, and all the socialising that goes with it, my studio devolved into a dumping ground for all the mess that should have been dealt with and wasn’t.

So that is first on my list.

Clear my studio, properly.

I am also taking part in an Instagram 100 happy days challenge.  Just finding one happy thing a day and photographing it, is a good way to fight the blues.

If you don’t like something, change it. And that includes a New year funk.

That said, I have just remembered that with all the holiday recaps, you might have missed my last couple of paintings too.

“Ghost tree” still a work in progress. Charcoal and Acrylic

“Mama” Finished (not for sale)

All three paintings have been inspired from photos taken on our trip.
And there will be more, I am certain of that. The USA adventure has provided me with so many wonderful images just begging to be painted.

So as you can see, things are getting back on track.

Thank you all who left such supportive comments here on my last post.

It’s nice to have a place where I can just release stuff that perhaps I can’t say out loud.

Like my painting of the tree, I am perhaps at the moment a “work in progress”

I am assessing, adjusting and adding some colour.

Stepping back and gaining perspective.

Until next time
